Hexagon aims Leitz PMM-Xi metrology instrument at SMEs
The Leitz PMM-Xi from Hexagon Metrology is aimed at those small and medium-sized businesses that do not need to invest in the company's extremely precise – and more costly – PMM-C and Infinity co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
With a basic accuracy of 0.6 + L/550 µm, the Leitz PMM-Xi is suitable for calibrating measuring tools and for use on the shopfloor as a reference instrument, in quality centres and measurement laboratories. The universal machine can take the place of form testers, gear and camshaft checks and other specialist devices. High resolution 0.02 µm scale bars support reproducible measurement results.
The PMM-Xi CMM is being launched with the latest LSP-X5 high speed scanning sensor. It is capable of variable high speed, self-centring 3D scanning as well as single point probing. The sensor unit also offers an interface for a removable part temperature sensor. The temperature sensor can be integrated into the probe head at any time during the measuring process to enable thermal compensation and ensure even more accurate results.
Nine PMM-Xi models are available in the same measurement ranges as Leitz's PMM-C series.
