Traumatic handlebar hernia: a rare abdominal wall hernia
By the bicycle handlebar direct trauma caused by traumatic abdominal wall bulging hernia (TAWH) is less common. At present, only 21 cases reported in the handle traumatic hernia. A 11-year-old boy fell from the bike and hit the steering wheel to their right lower abdomen bit, and later was sent to the emergency room. The patient's vital signs and initial laboratory tests are normal. Physical examination showed petechiae in the lower right surface of the skin, soft tissue swelling and tenderness palpation. CT showed an annular protruding intestine through the abdominal wall defect into the subcutaneous space. Surgical exploration found throughout the entire abdominal wall defects, including fascia, muscle and peritoneum, bowel protruding through the defect into the subcutaneous space. Drill for all defect fixes and postoperative boy's condition stable. The authors suggest in clinical traumatic abdominal injury for all to be highly skeptical TAWH existence. Surgical treatment is critical examination of all layers for the initial abdominal wall repair.
